The National Palace of Culture has two big courtyards, one on each section of the building. We are currently located in the Patio de la Paz (Courtyard to Peace) on the east side, named this way for it was the setting of the historic event of the signing of the Peace Accords, on December 29, 1996. 

Both monuments within this courtyard were created to commemorate this event and to celebrate peace in all of Guatemala’s territory.
