Have you ever wondered where did Guatemala’s roads and streets system begin? Where is kilometer 0 located exactly? The National Palace of Culture marks the place where all roads branch off. At the entrance, in front of the Plaza Central, you will see a commemorative plaque for the origin of all roads and streets in the whole Republic of Guatemala. 

As a fun fact, the navigation star is slightly crooked, this is because it is pointing out the 4 true cardinal points, while the grid of the city is not completely aligned with them. This will be seen again in the Flags Hall, pinpointing the exact center of the National Palace.
