This monument is an homage to the anonymous heroes of peace of the internal conflict. During its beginnings, it was located in front of the flagpole of the National Flag at the Plaza Mayor, but due to exposure to the weather, it suffered from structural damage. 

After its restoration, the monument was relocated inside the Patio de la Paz within the National Palace of Culture, in a safer and more protected environment for its preservation. The flame was lit again on October 1, 2004 during the Changing of the White Rose.
